About the Journal

Egan Journal is an open-access, multidisciplinary scientific journal created with the purpose of strengthening, valuing, and giving visibility to scientific production developed in the Northern Region of Brazil, especially in the Amazon context, while maintaining a dialogue with research conducted in other regions and countries.

The journal stems from the understanding that science is not limited to large urban centers but is also built along riverbanks, in riverside communities, in rural schools, in regional laboratories, and within knowledge systems that engage with the forest. Egan Journal recognizes that researching in the Amazon is also an act of listening, social responsibility, and commitment to the territory.

Open Access Policy

Egan Journal adopts an open-access policy, allowing all its content to be made available to the public free of charge and without restrictions. There are no fees for reading, downloading, or sharing published articles, reaffirming its commitment to the democratization of scientific knowledge.

Egan Journal was born from the ethical and scientific commitment to affirm research produced in the Amazon Region, recognizing that science comes from the riverbanks, the backyards of riverside communities, the schools, and the laboratories that dialogue with the forest. Its beginning was driven by the conviction that researchers from this region can disseminate their studies and ideas, which need to circulate, be read, and engage in dialogue with the world.

Inspired by riverside daily life, Egan Journal understands science as a canoe: it advances in the silence of the river, respects the rhythm of the tide, and carries ancestral knowledge alongside academic rigor. Just as the fruit ripens in the rhythm of the flood and ebb tides, knowledge flourishes when there is listening, sharing, and responsibility towards the territory.

Since its foundation, Egan Journal has assumed a multidisciplinary, open, and committed stance, valuing regional scientific production and promoting encounters between education, natural sciences, human sciences, health, environment, and culture. The journal reaffirms that researching in the Amazon is also an act of caring, and publishing is an act of resistance, memory, and the future.
