History
The history of Revista Egan is directly connected to the life experiences, academic background, and professional trajectory of its founder, Prof. Me. Ecson Gama Braga. Throughout his journey, experiences in the Amazon region raised reflections on how the Amazon is perceived, studied, and described, often by individuals distant from its local reality. This led to the creation of an editorial space committed to valuing regional scientific production.
Between 2010 and 2018, during his service as a military professional in the Amazon, he interacted with individuals from different regions of Brazil, many of whom had misconceptions about the region. This raised important questions about how the Amazon is perceived nationally.
In 2018, the idea of the journal was conceived. In 2019, the first initiatives began. In 2021, after the pandemic, the first digital structures were developed, along with reflections on the importance of local researchers publishing their work.
In 2022, as a teacher, the lack of academic material about the Médio Solimões region became evident. Between 2023 and 2024, during his master's studies at UFAM, this issue was reinforced when encountering research disconnected from local realities.
In 2025, as a Science Coordinator in Tefé, he recognized the potential of teacher-researchers, reinforcing the need for a publication platform. That same year, the journal’s technical structure was developed.
At the end of 2025, the name "Egan" was chosen, inspired by the historical name of the city of Tefé, "Vila de Ega".
In January 2026, the first issue was published, marking the official beginning of the journal.
